The New LA Galaxy Logo?
By: Laurie | May 18th, 2007
Dan Loney swears this is the new logo, although he can’t reveal his sources.
Dan Loney knows everything.
What do you think? New logo or delayed April Fool’s joke? It looks very sci-fi comic book to me, kind of like something we’d be using to throw at evil opposing goalkeepers…

UPDATE: So I didn’t actually really buy this. Although I was kind of examining it for navy blue and metallic gold, just in case. Because dumber things have been done in the name of Beckham. But as Dan tells us, here’s the real scoop. Anybody remember XFL and the Los Angeles Xtreme? (If so, you’re a step ahead of me.)
Thanks for brightening my day, Dan.

Laurie, I am SO sorry.

(Technically, I didn’t LIE….)

Yuch! I would like it for X-men, for example, but I’m not really seeing the connection here.

They might as well use it. Only about two people actually remember the XFL. Save some money on design costs so that they can sign someone like Teddy Sheringham.

Doesn’t seem like an improvement on the logo they’ve already got.

Dan, it was a slow day anyway. You saved me from blogging on the thrilling story of Posh’s arrival in LA. At least for an hour or two. Now I’d better go alter the post.

It really wouldn’t suprise me if that were the new logo, but lets hope not.

Oh … I’m actually a little disappointed – I was hoping they were going to rename the team the LA Shuriken and have that Cozmo thing come out all dressed as a ninja and beat up the other mascot. Oh well.

I’m disappointed, because I like the idea of bringing back the XFL — Landon could get “HE HATE ME” on the back of his jersey and everything.

Seriously, MLS teams have to stop changing logos and names. How is anyone ever going to establish tradition if they can’t remember what the team was called a few years ago? Who can wear a badge proudly if it is out-dated?

At least they should have changed it–and had the new strip ready–for the start of the season. Its incredibly embarrassing that they’re waiting for Beckham before they make the switch. Obviously it will be a bigger unveiling, but it also sends a message that it might suddenly become a different team the moment he joins. I’m naively hoping the timing was stipulated by sponsors/Adidas, so that I don’t have to disdain anyone in management more than I already do (see developmental salaries for another item on my list).
