To Keep Our Guys From Getting Bored: Galaxy vs. Rangers, May 23
By: Laurie | March 29th, 2007Because what with SuperLiga and the World Cup of Soccer Football and the arrival of Beckham and everything else, we really don’t have nearly enough extracurricular activities on our schedule.
We’re apparently playing the Rangers of Glasgow on May 23. Stay tuned for details.

I wonder if Rangers know that Beckham won’t be playing on May 23.

OK, this is getting out of hand. We have way too many damn games. Enough already. But, I guess we can take solis (how do you spell that?) in the fact that the game is in May and not later on in the summer time.

Playing a lot of friendlies and getting international experience is good for the team and good for the MLS. Rangers play a very different style of football than Galaxy, and I think its a great way to bring European football to the US as well as give MLS some visibility abroad. I agree that there is such a thing as too many games, but as a fan of SPL and MLS, I’m very excited for this match.

Ian – do you know if Celtic are playing the Fire on their MLS tour? I’ve heard they are, but I see nothing on either team’s website about it.

I’ve heard about more MLS games, but Celtic doesn’t seem to have them posted – I’ll look into this more.

Looks like July 22nd, Celtic and Fire at Toyota Park.

Thanks Ian. I sometimes wonder why football teams make it so hard to find out about their games. It’s almost as if they want half-empty stadiums.

It’s official: Alexi Lalas, or whomever the sadist is in the Galaxy front office, friggin’ loathes his players. They’re 2007 season sounds worse than the first day of fat camp.

Ian, I’m with you in that I love to see teams with entirely different styles and from different continents play each other. The thing is, I just don’t trust AEG’s motives when they put this kind of thing together. Which doesn’t mean I wouldn’t love to see the game.
